Responses of Pat Sebron

Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself to you and your association , before answering your questions I would just like to take a few moments to tell you a little about myself.

I am a retired Assistant Vice President from New Jersey Transit Corporation. I have spent my professional career in the transportation industry. After graduating from Saint Peters College I had the good fortune to be accepted into the Port Authority of New York & New Jerseys Management Trainee Program. After several years of holding Junior Management positions at the Port I was offered and accepted a Mid-Level Management position at the Consolidated Rail Corporation (Conrail). Upon Leaving Conrail I accepted a Senior Level Management Position with New Jersey Transit Corporation where I remained until I retired. At the time of retirement I held the position of Assistant Vice-President of Human Resources.

I am a life long resident of Jersey City, educated in the Public School System and was the first African-American Female to graduate for Saint Peters' College. I have been involved in my community for decades always with a passion for making things better for the youth. My efforts have been recognized by many organizations. I am an active member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church and serve on several parish committee's and ministries.

Now I will try to answer your questions.

1. What has motivated you to run for Jersey City school board?

As mentioned earlier I have always been passionate about the safety, education and general well being of young people. To this end I have participated in and run several youth directed programs. For several years I considered running for the board but not until I paid particular attention to the urging of our President to be more involved did I make the decision to run.

2. What are your top goals for your three year term?

Financial stability, early childhood education, reduction in drop out rate.

3. Are you running on a slate with other candidates? If so, who are they and what do you think you can achieve as a complete slate?

Yes, William DeRosa, Sean Connors ... while the three of us have met recently, I believe we share a deep concern for the children and feel committed to do the best we can do to educate the children in our city.
